Description

Ernest CHAPLET (1835-1909), HAVILAND. A baluster vase with a wide tubular neck and loves in brown chamotte stoneware. It features a japanese incised decoration of foliage and flowering scrolls, enhanced by brilliant enamels and polychrome matte pastes highlighted in gold. The decoration is engraved with enameled and gilded flowering vines. The blue-ground neck is decorated with large white daisies. The handles are formed by a high-relief putto resting on a drape. Signed H&Co au chapelet, shape number 208 and engraved turner's initials RB accompanied by the number 22. Late 19th century, after 1882. Height: 34 cm. Width : 28 cm.
