AN INLAID WOOD OKIMONO OF A KARAKO RIDING A HOBBY HORSE AN INLAID WOOD OKIMONO OF A KARAKO RIDING A HOBBY HORSE Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) Depicting a young Chinese boy dressed in voluminous robes with foliate cuffs and sleeves, riding a separately carved hobby horse, the stick tucked between his legs as he reins the animal close to himself. The okimono finely decorated in iro-e hiramaki-e, his hair tufts, head and hands inlaid. With an associated wood base. HEIGHT 8.2 cm Condition: Good condition with wear, few tiny chips and losses. The stick of the hobby horse restored.
