First edition of this singular collection of anecdotes about Paris prisons, which remained anonymous. It is illustrated with a handsome engraved frontispiece. A precious copy bound in the period for Auguste-Simon-Louis Bérard (1783-1859), a member of the Société des Bibliophiles français, by Thouvenin jeune, enriched with the original signed drawing of the frontispiece. A note pasted on the first lining specifies that the copy was sold at the Bérard sale in 1829 for 26 francs to Simier. Provenance: Auguste-Simon-Louis Bérard (1829, no. 2056). - Simier.
