First edition containing 41 biographies of comedians and 41 hors texte etched portraits by Frédéric Hillemacher, including the frontispiece portrait of Voltaire. It also includes an engraved vignette at the head of the foreword. Edition of 250 copies, this being one of 232 on tinted laid paper. (a fine copy, with some wear and tear).
