A LARGE SATSUMA CERAMIC BOWL WITH FIGURAL SCENES A LARGE SATSUMA CERAMIC BOWL WITH FIGURAL SCENES Japan, late 19th century, Meiji period (1868-1912) The bowl finely painted in gilt and bright enamels, the exterior with panels enclosing landscapes alternating with figural scenes, the interior with a roundel enclosing seated samurai and a lady, framed by a hatched pattern resembling jewels. Mounted on a gilt bronze base with lion mask feet. DIAMETER 36.7 cm WEIGHT 3,799 g Condition: Good condition with some wear, a repair to the upper rim with associated touchups, and rubbing to the gilt.
