Decorative applique with bone yaksha. India, Shunga period, 1st century B.C. H 13, 10.3 and 8 cm. One round sculptural and two relief-like depictions of the Yakshi, a nature spirit or a goddess of lower rank in Hinduism and Buddhism. The plaques were probably used as fittings for furniture. They depict a woman with her upper body exposed and richly adorned, her lower body covered by a robe. 3 pieces! Yakshi is the female form of the Yakshas, who are regarded as guardians of treasures hidden in the earth and are therefore counted among the followers of Kubera, the god of wealth. Provenance: Ex collection Dr. Klaus Marquardt, North Rhine-Westphalia, 1980s to 2009.

Modern gold ring with carnelian gem. Modern ring, Roman gem, 1st - 2nd century A.D. 22.22 g, ring size 57. Ring by Corrado Sacchi, Rome, 2019 (hallmark on the outside of the ring band). Gem of red carnelian with standing Mercury with winged caduceus and purse. This motif is repeated as an impression of the gem in gold at the other end of the ring band. Gold! Intact. Thanks him for his article [on his novel Aymeris], "of such scope and fine analysis, so understanding, that I am delighted". He explains at length about the epilogue and Georges Aymeris's suicide, which gives the book "all its social and epochal meaning. Georges has played with fire, he has played the revolutionary in revolt against bourgeois conventions [...] he kills himself, as if on a spoiled child's whim - whereas so many other times he hadn't had the courage to kill himself. [...] Basically, the whole narrative was designed to lead up to this actual gesture, by a would-be murderer"...
