STATUTE In gilded bronze, representing Shakyamuni Buddha, seated in dhyanasana, hands in varada mudra on a double lotus, dressed in his monastic garment "Kashaya" evoking simplicity and renunciation of all forms of materialism, with tight curls topped by a bun forming the ushnisha, symbol of superior wisdom. His face, with half-closed eyes and a slight smile, expresses serenity, his long ears listening to the world. Two attributes are missing, including the alms bowl.
