The Dresden painter and graphic artist Otto Schubert enjoyed his artistic training first at the Dresden School of Arts and Crafts and then at the local art academy. Together with Otto Dix and Conrad Felixmüller, among others, he founded the Dresden Secession Group in 1919. The majority of Schubert's works were destroyed in 1937 as part of the "Degenerate Art" campaign, and his printing blocks and plates were destroyed during the attack on Dresden in 1945. After the war, he continued to work in Dresden, including as a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR. The present painting shows the painter's wife. Oil on canvas.
