German Post War Bühl, Hede Head. 2011. alabaster. Approx. 14.7 x 13.6 x 18.5 cm (height with marble plinth approx. 21.5 cm). Monogrammed and dated (incised) to the bottom of the base. - On the base with trace of eh. tiny sticker as well as with production-related incisions inherent to the work. Overall very good and extremely fine. Magnificent, wonderfully wavy worked copy on the sides. VZ Kraft 2011.4 - Our copy will be included in the supplement to Dr. Hartmut Kraft's catalog. We are grateful for valuable information. - Provenance: West German private collection. - Unique. The main theme in Hede Bühl's work, which deals almost exclusively with the human figure, is her head sculptures. Made of stone or bronze, more rarely aluminum, lead or plastic, they are reduced to the most elementary basic forms and experience exciting accentuations through a constantly varying elongation, curvature or layering. The outer form fascinates with a quiet, albeit extremely powerful retreat. The smooth surfaces build up into a sculpturally lively form full of strong density and enter into a changing interplay with the surrounding space. They consciously involve the viewer, but do not allow any insight into the interior. The quietly rising sound fades away inside. - Bühl studied under Sepp Mages and Joseph Beuys at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1958-63 and worked for a time in Ewald Mataré's studio. She received numerous awards for her work, which she consistently developed over decades, including the Käthe Kollwitz Prize from the Academy of Arts in Berlin in 2007. Her sculptures are represented in private and public collections, including the Berlin National Gallery, the Kunststiftung NRW, Düsseldorf and the Von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal. Alabaster. Monogrammed and dated (carved) at the bottom of the stand. - Stand with trace from previous, tiny label as well as carvings due to production and immanent to the work. All in all very good and impeccably nice. Splendid unique work, sides marvellously wavy worked out. - Our work will be included in the supplement of the catalogue by Dr. Hartmut Kraft. - Provenance: West German private collection.
