English School, 19th century Portrait of a young officer, half-length, in uniform inscribed 'G. H. Arnold' on the frame, oil on canvas laid on board 30.5 x 25cm Condition Report: Overall: 45 x 40cm Craquelure and light surface dirt. On close examination the surface of the canvas is uneven and bubbled with cracks to the surface. Issues with bitumen have caused the paint to shrink and it has been filled in. There appears to be retouching to the face and background. Not examined under UV or out of glazed frame. For a full report please contact the department.
