TALICH carpet (Caucasus-Shirvan), late 19th century Dimensions: 252 x 103cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on wool foundation. An old gold field hosts a stylized honeycomb trellis, adorned with polychrome arrowed Medes stars. The wide frame features an ivory border with a series of arachnids and starry florets, and two brick counter-borders with a succession of small multicolored starry caissons. External braid with positive/negative chess pieces. Unusual graphics.
