Dresden 1909-1911", name Private Oskar Pommer, on the front coat of arms with portrait of Kaiser Wilhelm II. under a crown between military trophies, below a city view of Dresden, farewell and manoeuvre scenes to the left and right, two name bars to the back, farewell scene lithophane to the base, high pewter lid with stylised oak leaves and reservist's mottoes, the finial a soldier supporting a wounded comrade, the Saxon coat of arms as pusher, good condition, h max. 30 cm.

Stephan Rauh, Auf dem Johannisfriedhof in Dresden Sensitive depiction of several old, partly weathered gravestones, watercolour on paper, signed "St. Rauh" in the lower right corner and dated "15. April 1857", signed again in the lower left corner, inscribed on the reverse "Alte Grabsteine auf dem Johannisfriedhof zu Dresden/Stefan Rauh (1822-1860), furthermore collection stamp of Johann Georg von Sachsen (1869-1938), remains of old mounting on the reverse, slightly browned, stapled under passepartout, sheet dimensions approx. 17.2 x 24.7 cm. Artist information: German landscape painter and watercolourist (1822 Nuremberg to c. 1860 probably Dresden), studied at the academy in Dresden from 1840, artistic influence by the pupil of Ludwig Richter Ernst Hasse, study trips took him to Tyrol, Bavaria, northern Bohemia and through Saxony, recorded in Dresden until 1858, source: Thieme-Becker.

Alvensleben, attr, Landscape near Pilsen View of a river flowing past a small town with a railway bridge, graphite and some watercolour in brown on coarse wove paper, inscribed and dated lower left "Die Eisenbahnbrücke über der Radbuza bei Pilsen, d. 23/10 (18)79", on the reverse inscribed in lead "Alvensleben, Oscar von 1840-1903" and "Die Eisenbahnbrücke über die Radbuza (Nebenfluss der Beraun) bei Pilsen. 1879", somewhat brownstained. Sheet dimensions approx. 21.5 x 33 cm. Artist information: actually Karl Wilhelm Ludwig Oskar von Alvensleben, German landscape painter and draughtsman. Landscape painter and draughtsman (1831 Benkendorf to 1903 Dresden), childhood on the Gohlis estate near Leipzig, no information available on his artistic training, 1866-74 studied at the Dresden Academy under Carl Gottlieb Peschel and Julius Hübner, from 1871 member of the Dresden artists' cooperative, extensive study trips took him to Bohemia, Austria and the North and Baltic Seas, participated in the Academy exhibitions in Dresden and Berlin, he did not sell any works throughout his life, so that today larger collections are stored in various museums, source: Thieme-Becker, AKL and Wikipedia.
