Provenance: Milan, private collection His painting is an interplay of light and color, as evidenced by the work presented here, made during the artist's early period. Spots of pure color placed close together and superimposed in a disjointed manner follow one another to create new luminous effects. Benvenuto Benvenuti studied in Leghorn with master Lorenzo Cecchi; influenced initially by Macchiaioli painting, he became a Divisionist in 1902 after meeting master Vittore Grubicy De Dragon, who became his point of reference and whose pupil he was. Of mild temperament and introverted character, he participated in few national and Parisian exhibitions, isolating himself in his beloved Livorno, where he exhibited in the city's galleries.
