(documented in Venice and Rome between 1691 and 1700) Dancing Feast Oil on canvas, 56X75 cm Provenance: Milan, private collection Registered in the Fraglia of Venetian painters between 1691 and 1701, Piazza is later documented in Rome, where he lived at the parish of Santo Stefano del Cacco (Cf. R. Carloni, Parrocchia di Santo Stefano del Cacco, in: Artists and Craftsmen in Rome, II dagli Stati delle Anime of 1700, 1725, 1750, 1775, edited by E. Debenedetti, in Studi sul Settecento Romano, 21, Rome 2005, pp. 423-425, no. 20). The canvas under consideration is unquestionably to be dated to the author's Venetian period and shows clear affinities with the painting of Joseph Heintz the Younger (Augsburg, c. 1600 ; Venice, 1678).
