Danish statuary artist Constant Auguste Thomsen made his debut at the 1888 Salons with his work Le Serment du jeune Annibal. He produced a number of notable statues and bas-reliefs, including Eros in marble and busts of prominent figures, and won first prize in 1905 for the monument to Charles Lovy. Thomsen is also renowned for his contributions to various public monuments and chapels.
