GREEN CHAPE. 19th century. Background fabric: green moiré silk. Chaperon trimmed with gilded twisted-wire bangs, decorated with a central applique of the monogram of Christ IHS [IESUS HOMINUM SALVATOR] in gilded wire, embroidered on equally gilded spokes. Gilded braid with linear geometric motifs. Neckband with two gilded brass plates in the form of four-lobed medallions with redents, hook and chain. Worn gilding and deformation of the clevis bit. Faded green silk. Ochre canvas lining. Provenance: Chanoine Hamard.
