18 K gold snuffbox, rectangular shape with cut sides. Translucent royal blue enamel on a guilloché background of parallel waves underlined by dots, enhanced around the rim with pearls on the lid alternating with green enameled leafy garlands, and on the reverse with white opaque enamel half-pearls linked by a wavy pattern of green enameled leaves. The lining is gold, the lid hinged. In the center, a polychrome enamel depicts a genre scene in the style of Claude-Joseph Vernet: fishermen in the foreground, boats, waterfall and town. Fourth quarter of the 18th century, attributed to Switzerland. No hallmark Gross weight: 130 g - length: 8 cm - depth: 5.3 cm - height: 2.3 cm Condition: one half-pearl missing on the lid, two on the front and a chip in the blue enamel, three on the back, four in the frames, on the reverse a chip in a white enamel pearl.
