On the lid, an unsigned round polychrome miniature, encircled by gilded copper, depicts a basket of "Dutch" type flowers composed of parrot tulips, old roses, carnations and anemones in an openwork basket, late 18th century. In the box, old inscription, handwritten in ink on strong paper: "Flowers in a basket by Gérard van Spaendonck, famous miniaturist, born in Holland in 1746, died in Paris, in 1822, specialized in the painting of fruits and flowers, which he reproduced with rare perfection (Wanted)".
