The face with a smiling expression, surmounted by a headdress with geometric decoration. 14 x 13.5 x 9 cm Provenance: Italian private collection, purchased from LIPKIN GALLERY INC. by Morton Lipkin c/o Herbert Bard & Co. 400 Madison Ave. New York, N.Y.10017, on February 10, 1976. It is believed that this kind of head is the representation of divinities connected with dance, music and joy, used during ritual ceremonies.
