Description

Important half-moon console table in finely carved, molded and gilded oak, in its original decor. The entablature, bordered by a string of pearls, is adorned with a frieze of interlaced openwork circles. It is underlined by flowery garlands fastened with knotted ribbons. It is supported by four tapered uprights, enriched by acanthus spandrels topped by Ionic capitals. They are joined by a curved strut embellished with a frieze of piasters and an antique-style vase flanked by garlands of flowers. The whole rests on small tapered legs. Grey-veined white marble top. Paris. Louis XVI period. Attributed to Georges JACOB (Cheny, July 6, 1739 - Paris, July 5, 1814).
