BOLIVAR SIMON: (1783-1830) Venezuelan-born Military and Political leader. President of Gran Colombia 1819-30, President of Bolivia 1825 & President of Peru 1824-27. Bolivar played an important role in Latin America´s successful struggle for independence from the Spanish Empire, and is today considered one of the most influential politicians in the history of the Americas. A good and attractive D.S., ` Simon Bolivar´, one page, 4to, Bogota, 6th March 1820, to Joan Benole, in Spanish. The document bears to the heading the large printed heading "Republica de Colombia - Simon Bolivar - Presidente de la Republica, General en gefe del Exercito Libertador" ("Republic of Colombia - Simon Bolivar - President of the Republic, Chief General of the Liberatory army"). The partially printed document refers to the appointment of Joan Benole by Bolivar, granting his rights and seniority as Captain of infantry of the battalion Albion. Countersigned at the base by Diego Ibarra. Bearing alongisge Bolivar´s signature remnants of a former red wax seal. With a signed annotation to the verso. Paper with watermark. With blank integral leaf. With small age wear mostly to edges. G
