MURAT JOACHIM: (1767-1815) Marshal of France, brother-in-law of Napoleon Bonaparte. King of Naples 1808-15. D.S., ` J. Napoleon´, with flourish, a bold ink signature, one page, folio, Naples, 17th August 1810, in Italian. The partially printed document bears the printed heading ''Gioacchino Napoleone - Re delle Due Sicilie'' and is a decree comprising four articles, the first relating to the municipality of Mugnano, `La rendita del comune di Mugnano e fissata per l´anno amministrativo a tutto Decembre 1810...´ (Translation '' The income of the Municipality of Mugnano is set for the administrative year at the end of December 1810…”) The last and fourth decree charges the Minister of the Interior to execute the decrees approved by the King. Dimensions: 64x52.5 cm. (Restorations). Provenance : Charles-Guillaume Gamot (1766-1820), brother-in-law of the model. Then Clémence Gamot (1799-1848), wife of Jean-Baptiste Partiot. Then Louise Partiot (1827-1897), wife of Casimir Edouard Harlé. Then by descent to the present day. Marshal Ney and Charles-Guillaume Gamot respectively married the two sisters Aglaé and Antoinette-Louise Auguié, nieces of Madame Campan.

Handwritten label on the back, indicating that this painting is a copy after Baron François Gérard (1770-1837). Portrait of my great-grandfather, Mr. Gamot, prefect at Mende and Auxerre. Copy, by my grandmother, his daughter, of the original by Gérard, ..., and signed Harlé". Provenance: Clémence Gamot (1799-1848), wife of Jean-Baptiste Partiot. Then Louise Partiot (1827-1897), wife of Casimir Edouard Harlé. Through descendants to the present day. Charles-Guillaume Gamot (1766-1820), prefect of Lozère and then Yonne. He married Antoinette-Louise Auguié, niece of Madame Campan, becoming Marshal Ney's brother-in-law. During the Second Restoration, Gamot was deposed, Ney imprisoned and executed. Gamot, loyal to his brother-in-law, gave him a burial in the Père-Lachaise cemetery. He died in 1820, aged 54, and is buried in Marshal Ney's tomb.
