Ernaux, in thanks for her correspondent´s loyalty, provides a few words from L´Autre fille, continuing with a quotation of seven lines, in full, ´Tu avais bon toujours six ans et moi j´avancais de plus en plus dans le monde, avec-j´en trouverai a vingt ans la definition dans un poeme d´Eluard - mon "dur desir de durer". A toi il n´etait arrive que la mort´ (Translation: ´You were still a good six years old and I was moving further and further into the world, with - I would find the definition in a poem by Eluard when I was twenty - my "dur desir de durer".
