MANN THOMAS: (1875-1955)

MANN THOMAS: (1875-1955) German novelist, Nobel Prize winner for Literature, 1929. T.L.S., Thomas Mann, one page, 4to, Munich, 10th March 1926, to [Leon] Pierre-Quint, in German. Mann apologises for the delay in writing to his correspondent owing to a heavy influx of correspondence and his wife´s illness and continues to write ´Thank you very much for your kindness on the point I mentioned in my previous letter. I would have liked to send you the draft contract, but I handed it to Mr Andre Germain, who was interested in it, and he has not yet returned it to me. In order to avoid wasting any more time, I would ask you today to have the contract finalised with the small amendment you have approved and send it back to me for signing´. The novelist concludes his letter by stating ´I have heard that the news of the planned French complete edition has already passed through German newspapers. Did this happen at your instigation? Not as if I had anything against it - on the contrary, I am very happy for the public to be familiarised with the plan now´. A letter of good association. Some very light, extremely minor age wear to the edges, otherwise VG Leon Pierre-Quint (1895-1958) French writer, editor and literary critic who was instrumental in launching the surrealist movement as the publisher of Andre Breton´s Surrealist Manifesto in 1924.
