DEUTSCH BABETTE: (1895-1982) American poet, critic, translator and novelist. T.L.S., Babette Deutsch, one page, 8vo, New York, 11th March 1968, to Miss. Elinor Kane, Copy Editor at The Atlantic Monthly. Deutsch returns the proof of her poem The Prepared Piano, stating that the text is fine and remarking ´I trust my indications of the way I should like the title, dedication, and author´s name to appear are intelligible´, and further asking ´Will you kindly send me at once any bio-bibliographical note that you may wish to print in the same issue with the poem, so that I may check it.....´. Together with a typescript copy of the poem referred to, with pencil annotations in the hand of an editor to the margin, and two uncorrected galley proofs of The Prepared Piano (dedicated to John Cage), with Deutsch´s corrections and specific instructions to the printer in the margins of each, one signed with her initials.
