GREENE GRAHAM: (1904-1991) English novelist. T.L.S., Graham Greene, one page, 8vo, Avenue Pasteur, Antibes, 20th January 1983, to Colonel Grandvaux. Greene thanks his correspondent for their letter ´which encourages me in the fight I am having´ and continues to remark ´I expect you will have seen the scandal of Fratoni´s trial being once more postponed at Nice´. VG Jean-Dominique Fratoni (1923-1994) French businessman who was known in the 1970s and 1980s on the Cote d´Azur for his involvement in the management of several casinos and his alleged links with the Mafia. He was sentenced in absentia in 1983 and 1985 to a total of five years in prison and a fine of 410,000,000 francs for tax and customs offences.
