PROUST MARCEL: (1871-1922) French Novelist and Essayist. Best known for his major novel A la Recherche du Temps Perdu (` In search of Lost Time´). An unusual short letter in this form, A.L.S., ` Marcel Proust´, one page, 8vo, mourning paper, n.p., n.d. [1906], to Albert Sorel´s son, in French. Proust sends a warm and close message, sharing the distrust of his correspondent, stating ` Cher ami, je ne cesse de penser à vous dans ces jours affreux et je souffre de ne pouvoir être auprès de vous. Votre bien malheureux Marcel Proust´ (Translation: " Dear friend, I do not stop thinking about you in these terrible days and I suffer from not being able to be with you. Your very unfortunate Marcel Proust") Left edge very slightly trimmed, otherwise VG Albert Sorel (1842-1906) French Historian. Sorel was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature nine times. During Proust´s studies he was a student, among others, of Albert Sorel, who judged him "not intelligent" in his exam. They had a good relationship and Proust appreciated him.
