DUMAS ALEXANDRE: Fils (1824-1895) French Author and Dramatist. An excellent content lengthy A.L.S., ` A. Dumas f.´, four pages, 8vo, n.p., n.d., to Adolphe Desbarolles, in French. Dumas writes to his close friend Desbarolles referring to his new “science”, quiromancy, and states in part ` Cher ami, je reçois votre bien aimable lettre et m´empresse d´y répondre. Il y a présentement des affinités inattendues, car nous parlions il y a 2 jours de vous et de votre science si intéressante et si positive. Vous aviez dans la maitresse de la maison où j´étais, Mme Guyet Desfontaines, une adepte des plus convaincues. J´y crois aussi, car j´en suis arrive à croire à tout excepté au mal…´ (Translation: “ Dear friend, I receive your very kind letter and I hasten to respond to it. There are currently some unexpected affinities, because 2 days ago we were talking about you and your science which is so interesting and so positive. You had in the mistress of the house where I was, Mrs. Guyet Desfontaines, a most convinced follower.
