IMPORTANT SHIP KEY that belonged to King Farouk of Egypt. In silver and vermeil, finely chased and decorated with bands of Egyptian ships and fighters, water leaves and foliage. The base is decorated with winged scarabs and star motifs. The upper part with the figure of King Farouk in a medallion and with calligraphic inscriptions ("El Mahroussa", "the well-protected") in an ancient Egyptian boat. Amortization surmounted by a royal crown, star and clasp. Complete with its two-part silver screwed casement and rope-covered metal grip. In used condition. Made by MAPPIN AND WEBB with London hallmarks and letter date 1940. Special commission from King Farouk and offered to his special advisor Lucien Gallas and passed on by descent to his daughter. Silver weight: 29.6 kg Provenance : inherited by Lucien Gallas' daughter and kept in a property in the Var region of France.
