LA RUCHE - Maurice & Edmond ALET (1874-1967 / 1877-1917) Walnut and mahogany veneered dining room furniture with carved vine leaf décor, comprising a square-top dining table with a slight overhang on a recessed corner base with sword legs, four hollow-back chairs with wicker seats, a sideboard with a recessed top shelf opening with two full drawers in the waist above two full doors and two side shelves, a piece of furniture with a glazed upper section opening with two drawers on the belt above two solid doors, a rectangular view mirror topped by a painting depicting the Dalbade bell tower and a small cartel with chimes, circular dial and Arabic numerals (no guarantee of operation). Signed La Ruche and dated 1911 on the glass cabinet and dated Feb(rier) 1912 on the view of the Dalbade by Edmond Alet. Table: Height 75 cm - length 105 cm - depth 109 cm Chair: Height 94 cm Sideboard : Height 135 cm - length 119 cm - depth 45 cm width of each side shelf. 24 cm Glass sideboard: Height 222 cm - length 130 cm - depth 54 cm - width of each side shelf: 35 cm. Cartel: Height 101 cm Trumeau: height 197 cm - width 133 cm. A damaged chair is included. History: in 1898, the Alet brothers, Maurice and Edmond, who had settled in Toulouse, set up a furniture publishing and sales store called La Ruche. An exhibition of their work was organized at the Musée du Vieux-Toulouse from July 3 to September 30, 2017.
