Lot of approx. 16 documents from the 18th and 19th centuries, including souvenir posters from the siege of Paris, mayor's appointment (1807), pass dated March 2, 1871 (German-French), lieutenant's brevet from year 4 (1795) and various papers from around the world, commissioner's appointment (year 4), absolute leave (military reform), etc. Several papers concern Pierre-Alexis Brochard, a native of Bléré, 27 years old in year 4.

[Affaire Lally-Tolendal]. Mémoire pour le Comte d'Aché, lieutenant-général des armées navales, & commandeur de l'Ordre royal & militaire de Saint Louis. Paris, Imprimerie de Simon, 1766. In-4, 76 pp. 111 pp. [pièces justificatives], marbled fawn calf, ornate ribbed spine, red title page, red edges (period binding). One lower corner damaged, tear on f. 95-96 of the supporting documents, without damage. A squadron leader since 1756, it was Anne-Antoine d'Aché (1701-1780) who was given command of a naval division destined to lead the new governor Lally-Tollendal to the Indies, along with a reinforcement of 4,000 men. Despite the many tactical errors that prevented him from providing Lally with all the help he needed in the fight for Pondicherry from 1757 to 1761, he was able to maintain his position in the French navy. This did not prevent him from joining the accusers of Lally-Tollendal, who was sentenced to death, while d'Aché was elevated to the rank of Lieutenant-General of the Naval Armies (1761), Grand Cross of the Royal and Military Order of Saint-Louis (1761) and Vice-Admiral of the Levant Fleet (August 24, 1770).
