A GERMAN SPORTING CROSSBOW, CIRCA 1750 with slender steel bow (string missing), retained by early cords and multi-coloured pom-poms, figured tiller (repaired worm damage), extensively inlaid with engraved staghorn plaques decorated with foliage, flowers and, on the right of the cheek-piece with a coat-of-arms (extensive restorations), the top with engraved bolt channel, fitted with iron stirrup, faceted iron string release catch, set trigger (incomplete), and iron trigger-guard, 65.8 cm tiller
