A FRENCH SMALL-SWORD WITH CHISELLED AND GILT IRON HILT, CIRCA 1760 with hollow-triangular blade engraved and gilt with scrolls, a trophy-of-arms and with some blued finish over the lower portion, engraved with the letter 'W' at the forte, chiselled iron hilt comprising double shell-guard, quillon with globular terminal, knuckle-guard and pommel all decorated with differing trophies-of-arms, scrolls and flowers against a finely matted gilt ground (worn, areas of light pitting), and the grip bound with plaited silver wire and ribband between 'Turk's heads', in its wooden scabbard with locket decorated en suite (the lower portion of the scabbard and the chape missing, 81.2 cm blade
