‡ A LURISTAN COPPER ALLOY SWORD, PROBABLY 10TH/9TH CENTURY B.C. with tapering double-edged slender blade formed with a low rounded medial ridge on each face, copper alloy hilt (now detached) enclosing the forte, rectangular grip with a raised moulding, and pronounced eared pommel, 94.5 cm overall Provenance Martin Retting Collection (acquired circa 1969) A related sword, excavated at Ardabil, Northwest Iran, is preserved in the British Museum (museum no. 124630).
