BOCHER MAIN ROUSSEAU: (1890-1976) American couturier, best known for the eponymous fashion label, Mainbocher, which he created in 1929. A.N.S., Main, to the recto of his personal printed oblong 12mo Visiting Card, featuring his printed name to the centre (the surname struck through) and with no address indicated, n.d., to Ruth Gordon, 'Love and kisses and a happy time, Love Main'. Also signed ( 'and Douglas') by Douglas Pollard, the fashion artist and long-time companion of Bocher. Accompanied by the original envelope partially hand addressed by Bocher to 'Mrs Garson Kanin' at the Beverly Hills Hotel, California. VG Ruth Gordon (1896-1985) American actress and Academy Award winner, the wife of Garson Kanin (1912-1999) American writer and director.
