SOUSA JOHN PHILIP: (1854-1932) American composer and conductor, primarily known for his American military marches. A.M.Q.S., John Philip Sousa, to the verso of his personal printed small oblong 12mo Visiting Card, featuring his printed name to the centre of the recto and with no address indicated. Sousa has neatly penned three bars of music which he identifies as being from The Diplomat. Signed immediately beneath the quotation and dated 1905 in his hand. Some light staining and age wear, only very slightly affecting the quotation and signature, and with some signs of former mounting to the recto, G The Diplomat March was composed by Sousa in 1904.
