FALLA MANUEL DE: (1876-1946) Spanish Composer. A very fine A.L.S., `Manuel´, two pages, to a postcrad photograph, Malaga, 22nd June 1924, to Madame Magdeleine Greslé, in Paris, in French. Falla is in Malaga, short distance from his home town of Granada to rest and recover, stating `Ma chère amie, J´ai été très ému en recevant votre mot, si précieux pour moi. Je suis à Malaga pour quelques jours afin de me soigner un peu et de pouvoir travailler avec le calme nécessaire, chose bien difficile à Grenade pendant les fêtes, mais je serai de retour vers la fin du mois.´ (Translation: "My dear friend, I was very moved when I received your note, so precious to me. I am in Malaga for a few days to heal myself a little and to be able to work with the necessary calm, something very difficult in Granada during the holidays, but I will be back towards the end of the month.") Further Falla explains about his vertigo problems he suffered the year before in Paris, saying `Je vais beaucoup mieux, et pour cette fois il me semble que, grâce à Dieu, le danger des vertiges, dont j´ai tant souffert à Paris l´année dernière, est éloignée. Je pense à la joie de vous revoir l´hiver prochain à Paris, et peut-être même en Espagne...´ (Translation: "I am much better, and this time it seems to me that, thank God, the danger of dizziness, from which I suffered so much in Paris last year, is gone. I am thinking of the joy of seeing you again next winter in Paris, and perhaps even in Spain...") The postcard shows to the front a photograph of Malaga´s beach with fishermen using old local methods of fishing. Accompanied by the original envelope addressed in Falla´s hand, postmarked and stamped. VG The soprano Magdeleine Gresle would, a few years later, perform the world premiere of Falla´s Soneto a Córdoba, accompanied by the composer himself at the piano.
