DEBUSSY CLAUDE: (1862-1918)

DEBUSSY CLAUDE: (1862-1918) French composer. A.L.S., Claude Debussy, two pages, 8vo, Paris, 20th April 1903, on his personal printed stationery, 58 rue Cardinet, Paris, in French. Debussy sends the present letter to a friend, probably addressed to French Publisher Eugene Fromont, who published Debussy´s Pelleas & Melisande (1902). Here you have, bearer of this letter and two melodies, the young Bérard of whom I spoke to you recently. Welcome him with this charming goodwill which you are accustomed to, and you will please your very cordially affectionate Charles Debussy") To a post-scriptum, Debussy kindly suggest to his correspondent ` J´oubliais de vous dire que ces deux mélodies ne pourront attenter en rien à la beauté de votre catalogue...´ (Translation: " I forgot to tell you that these two melodies cannot in any way affect the beauty of your catalogue") VG Louis Charles Bérard (1881-1942) best known as Carol Berard. French Composer and Theorist.
