LANCASTER BURT: (1913-1994) American actor, Academy Award winner. A good vintage signed and inscribed 8 x 10 photograph of Lancaster in a half-length pose in costume as the charismatic travelling salesman Elmer Gantry, holding the Holy Bible in one raised hand, from the American drama film Elmer Gantry (1960). Signed by Lancaster in dark fountain pen ink to a light area of the image. It was for his performance in this role that Lancaster won a Best Actor Oscar. VG Provenance: The present photograph originates from the collection of Pierre Goulliard, a French gentleman who, for over 50 years, dedicated himself to obtaining in person autographs of British, American and European movie stars, always obtaining the signatures in fountain pen ink.
