Cary Grant Document Signed for RKO Radio Pictures DS, 29 pages, 8.5 x 13, September 15, 1948. Agreement between Cary Grant and RKO Radio Pictures, by which the actor is employed to perform his services "in the leading male role in one (1) motion picture to be commenced within a period of seven (7) years," with a provision allowing him to complete his work "in connection with the motion picture now entitled 'War Bride Story,' to be produced by Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation" prior to the start of the seven-year timeline. Signed at the conclusion in blue ink by Cary Grant, and countersigned by a vice president of RKO. In fine condition. The film referenced, a screwball comedy directed by Howard Hawks, would be released in 1949 as I Was a Male War Bride. Starring Cary Grant and Ann Sheridan, the film is about French Army officer Henri Rochard (Grant) who must pass as a war bride in order to go back to the United States with Women's Army Corps officer Catherine Gates (Sheridan). Harrison's Reports praised the film as a 'hilariously funny sophisticated comedy...The direction is bright and snappy, and both Grant and Sheridan do very good work, romping through the farcical situations in a highly amusing way.'

A 1948 comedy starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy, Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House humorously portrays the trials and tribulations of a New York couple attempting to build their dream home in the Connecticut countryside, only to encounter endless complications and escalating costs. The film, based on the 1946 novel by Eric Hodgins, remains a classic for its witty take on the challenges of homeownership and the American Dream. Bosley Crowther of The New York Times wrote that 'as straight entertainment, this ambling and genial report on a young advertising man's disasters (and final triumph) in becoming a country squire is as much casual fun as can be looked for on our sparsely provided screen.'
