A 16th century Persian poetry compendium with extracts from Saadi's Bustan, Khawâdjâ of Abdallah al-Ansari, Hadaeq al-Haqiqa va Chariat al-Tariq’a, Sa'adat-Nameh of Nasir-e Khosraw, with four 19th century paintings. Persian manuscript, 152 leaves with gold-flecked margins, in nasta'liq script in black ink, on four columns sometimes set at an angle for the poetry, with numerous titles in gold, red and blue ink. Illustrated with four miniatures in Safavid style, not directly corresponding to the subjects. Each miniature and sarlowh bears an owner's seal: "Malik al-Haqq al-Mubîn - Haji Ali 1117 (1705) . Provenance: Former library of explorer and orientalist Henri Moser with his bookplate. Authors: Saadi (d.1292), one of the greatest Persian poets and storytellers, is known as a moralist; his style is both clear and spare. Khawadja Abdallah al-Ansari (d.1089) is a faqih/jurist, exegete, master of hadith, renowned historian and outstanding orator. A great Sufi master, his collections are among the masterpieces of Persian literature. Sanai Ghaznavi (12th century), famous Persian Sufi poet, patron of the sciences and philosopher, his collection Hadiqat al Haqiqa (The Garden of Truth) had a significant influence on the mystical poets of the Middle East. Nasir-e Khosraw (d.1088), a Persian philosopher, theologian, traveler and poet, was one of the most eminent missionaries of his time, helping to spread Ismailism in the Eastern Iranian world.
