"Dear Jacques Prevel, I would like to ask you a very rare favor. It would be, when you come to see me tomorrow, to kindly bring me my cardboard drawings, which I need so urgently at the moment. I'll tell you why, but as I don't have the gall to think that this transfer is physical fun, I urge you to take a cab to Ivry. Marthe Robert will tell you [art critic who, along with Arthur Adamov, helped Antonin Artaud find a place in an institution near Paris on his release from the Rodez asylum where he had been interned]. Yours sincerely, in friendship... " A MAUDIT POET, JACQUES PREVEL WAS A LAST-TIME FRIEND OF ANTONIN ARTAUD, whom he met in May 1946. Weakened by poverty and drugs, he died of tuberculosis in 1951, and left a diary published in 1974 under the title En Compagnie d'Antonin Artaud.
