DAVID (Jacques-Louis). Autograph letter signed at the top, addressed to Ignazio Degotti. S.l.n.d. 3/4 p. in-12. "David wishes Monsieur Dégoti good morning: he asks him not to miss today the pleasure he gives him every Monday[s] of dining together, and to come even at 3 a.m. to his studio to measure a figure he wants to place before going to dinner. Verbal or written reply to Thévenot, my servant. My wife recommends that I wish you good morning." Ignazio Degotti, an Italian theater decorator, settled in France in 1790 and was appointed chief decorator at the Opéra in 1795. He was asked by David to collaborate on the architectural perspectives for his paintings Le Sacre de Napoléon and L'Arrivée de l'empereur à l'hôtel de ville.
