CLERGUE (Lucien). - CHAR (René). Le Taureau. Arles, "pour le compte et le plaisir de Lucien Clergue" (Montpellier, Presses de la Charité), 2000. In-folio, in all (14) ff. of which the first 3 and the last are blank, in leaves under printed folder, red cloth folder and case for the edition (Dermont-Duval). EDITION OF ONLY 45 NUMEROTES ON VELIN D'ARCHES SIGNED BY THE ARTIST, this one of 15 hors commerce. René Char's poem, written in 1950, originally appeared in 1951 in the collection Quatre fascinants, and was included in 1962 in the collection La Parole en archipel. An autograph manuscript of the poem is reproduced here. 6 MONTED PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTS, SIGNED IN PENCIL BY THE ARTIST on the mounts. Either : A PORTRAIT OF RENE CHAR (color photograph taken in 1982, cibachrome print 14.5 x 9.5 cm by Publimod in Paris), and 5 SCENES D'ARENES (black and white photographs taken between 1965 and 1989, silver prints 27.8 x 19.8 cm, by Lucien Clergue with assistants in his studio in Arles). EXEMPLAIRE ENRICHED BY LUCIEN CLERGUE WITH 3 COLLAGES (one with original color drawing) featuring autograph captions, 2 full-page and one double-page on an added white bifeuillet: Lucien Clergue has arranged advertisements and tickets to bullfights that took place from 1972 to 2004, and recalls the bullfighting deaths of Francisco Pasquiri in 1984 and Cyril Colombeau in 2004.
