Intaglio portrait of Augustus on the antiporta designed by Carlo Maratta and engraved by Auden Aert, frontispiece with large intaglio border depicting the months of the year in historiated medallions, engraved headpieces and endpapers, 6 full-page engraved plates of which 2 are folded, full-page intaglio antiporta of part "Fasti sacri veterum romanorum ex calendariis marmoreis" on pages 97 (slight marginal flourishes, small hole in margin of p. 79/80, some papers slightly browner in the second part). Coeval binding in half sponged leather with gold title to spine, within slipcase (some lack and defect). Exemplar with beards of this first editioncurated by archaeologist and keeper of the Vatican Library Pier Francesco Foggini and based on the findings and fragments, found in 1770, of a Roman rural calendar of the Augustan age engraved in epigraphic form on marble.Lot sold in 2018 by Sotheby's, The Sergio Rossetti Library.
