A Paris, chez J. Vincent, 1725. In-folio, [6 (of 8)] f., 116 p. (miscalculated for 118), [1] f., approb., pl., contemporary havana calf, 6-ribbed spine, brown morocco title-piece, ornate caissons, red edges (flaws, rubbing, very worn corners; minor soiling and russeting, p. 11 torn but not missing; light spotting and paper mottling in margin of one plate; without the 2 dedication f.). The architect Jacques Courtonne (1671-1739), was responsible for the Hôtel de Matignon (rue de Varenne) and the Hôtel de Noirmoutier (rue de Grenelle); these two buildings are amply described and illustrated in the last part of the work, which nevertheless focuses on perspective. This copy may be a resale by the bookseller Jombert: the regrained frontispiece, identical to the original, bears not the name of the dedicatee, the Duc d'Antin, but the address of the bookseller Jombert and the title "Architecture moderne", and the dedication has not been preserved.

A Paris, chez Prault père, 1743. 2 vols. in-4, XVI-162 + XII-196 p., fr., pl., contemporary speckled blond basane, 5-nerved spine, fawn title and tomaison pieces, ornate caissons, red edges (defects including 3 uncovered headpieces, worn corners, qq. snags in margins, scattered russeting and browning). First edition of this important treatise by the architect C.-E. Briseux (c. 1680-1754), and his principal work, describing the principles of construction and decoration established in the tradition of François Blondel. It includes a frontispiece and 260 copper-engraved plates that perfectly illustrate the characteristics of the Louis XV style, particularly in terms of interior decoration. (Fowler, 68; Berlin Kat., 2401; Millard, I, 41).

Jombert, 1764. 2 vol. in-4, contemporary mottled havana calf, 5-rib spine, fawn title and giblets, ornate caissons, red edges (headbands uncovered, spine of t.1 split and worn, with central sections out of order, a few marginal defects including cracks in the margins of a few pages (t.1), small ink stains on 2 pages, one in the margin (t.1), discreet soiling on page 48 (t.2) and stain on page 130 of t.2). Last and most complete edition, established and enlarged by the bookseller C.-A. Jombert, of this treatise by the architect Briseux, which first appeared in 1728. According to the notice written by Jombert himself, "2nd ed. increased by two" (Quérard, France litt., IV, 1830, p. 241). The illustration consists of 2 frontispieces, 7 vignettes, 1 cul-de-lampe, 152 plates, all engraved on copper. The architect and decorator Charles-Etienne Briseux (1680-1754) published several theoretical and practical works on aesthetics and architecture, and built several châteaux in the provinces; he is also credited with the Hôtel d'Augny, which now houses the town hall of the 9th arrondissement of Paris (Berlin Kat. 2398).
