Classic in its treatment of architectural orders, the work's originality lies in the 10 large rococo cartouches added to the text pages, in keeping with the taste of the period of its first edition, in 1755.

Fully engraved edition comprising 44 plates, including the title with Vignole's portrait, and a dedication leaf. Bound in the suite are [67] engraved plates from Derand's L'architecture des voûtes (some incomplete).
