In-4 paperback, publisher's dominoté paper cover. Only edition printed in Bonn. Description of the Metropolitan Church of the Archdiocese of Cologne, built in the 13th century to house the relics of the Magi. The shrine of the Magi (Dreikönigenschrein), made by Nicolas de Verdun around 1184, is the oldest reliquary in the Christian West. The illustration of this collection includes a title-frontispiece designed and engraved on copper by Charles Dupuis (1752-1807) and 12 beautiful engraved plates by the same artist, including 4 double folded plates. The author was the elector of the bishopric of Cologne. Copy in its red dominoté paper cover as issued (some minor wear). Curious and rare. Some brown spots.

The engraving impresses with the sober portrait in three-quarter view of the sitter, whose dignity in the portrait itself is only emphasised by the holding of a medal with the left hand. This contrasts with the very exuberant decorative frame with its precisely engraved figurative elements and pictorial depictions.
