Eighteenth-century half-leather binding with corners, friezes and gilt title on spine gusset (defect to upper cap). Exemplar with beards of this first edition.This work is the first architectural history of St. Peter's Basilica, profusely illustrated with plans and cutaways of buildings, and with details of statues, coins, papal tombs and views, by Girolamo Frezza, Alessandro Specchi, Arnold van Westerhout, Jean-Charles Alet, Sante Bartoli and Carlo Patacchia.
