[Militaria]. Vegetius, Flavius. De re militari libri quatuor. Paris, Chrétien Wechel, 1535. In 2nd (300 x 203 mm);[8], 279, [1] pages. Typographical mark to title page and colophon, 124 full-page engraved figures, except one, in text including woodcut of lanzichenecco intent on loading a cannon repeated three times (browned, small woodworm holes, restoration to lower corner of last 15 or so papers with loss of text supplated in manuscript hand on last few papers). Coeval vellum binding with vertical manuscript title to smooth spine. Third edition by Wechel following those of 1532 and 1534, with the text revised by French humanist Guillaume Budé. The beautiful woodcuts were taken from Steiner's German edition of 1529.
